Mohave County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating the death of a Mohave County Jail inmate. Early Thursday morning on December 21st, at about 3:00 am, A Detention Officer found the inmate who had apparently hung herself. The Officer and a nurse were conducting medical rounds at the time of the discovery. Both the officer and nurse entered the cell and initiated lifesaving efforts. Additional officers and medical staff responded as did Kingman Fire Department. The inmate, 40 year old Carrie Anne Hansen of Bullhead City, could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hansen was housed alone in her cell and the initial investigation shows no reason to suspect foul play. The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and the Medical Examiner is scheduled to complete an autopsy in the coming days. Hansen had been booked in the jail on December 15th for several felony offenses originating in the Lake Havasu City area.
